Start the fire and accumulate some coals, while the fire is going prepare the protein filling and toppings by dicing the veggies and shredding cheese. Stir the fire to make a bed of coals, lay the cast iron pan over the coals. Cook the ground beef, season with taco seasoning, and add the white onion. Cook until ground beef is done and onions are caramelized. Remove protein filling from pan and set aside. Begin to layer chips, protein filling and the toppings in the cast iron. Once filled cover with aluminum foil. Surround the pan with hot coals and leave to cook for 5-10 minutes until cheese is fully melted.

Carefully remove the cast iron from the coals. Tear away the foil to reveal nacho goodness! Top the nachos with avocado and green onions. Pair with sour cream, salsa, queso and enjoy! The best part about these nachos is the rich bite of smokiness that only comes with campfire cooking!
REMINDER
Plan and prepare all trips. Before lighting a fire at camp, check for fire bans and notices. Use the provided fire pits. Keep fires under control and do not leave a fire unattended. Wherever and whenever outdoors remember to leave no trace. Packing out what was packed in and lastly respect the land, wildlife and others on trail.
